How to Run a sub-3 Hour Marathon

Unveiling the Journey: Chasing Sub 3 and Breaking Free

None of us are going to make it off this earth without enduring some form of heartache or trauma. But, what are we going to do in-between these hurts?

Welcome to my Unveiling the Journey: Chasing Sub 3 and Breaking Free as I learn how to run a sub-3 hour marathon.

Welcome to ChasingSub3.blog, where the pavement beneath my feet tells a story of resilience, strength, and the unwavering pursuit of a sub 3-hour marathon. I’m thrilled to embark on this journey with you as I wear multiple hats – a mother to three incredible kids, a survivor of complex post-traumatic stress disorder (CPTSD), and a passionate marathoner. This blog is more than just a chronicle of my running exploits; it’s a narrative of breaking free from the chains of a trauma fog that has lingered for far too long. And not only from childhood but recent traumas in my life that have compounded. Minors and majors.

Over the past three years, I’ve faced setbacks – from traumatic childbirth to my third baby, family unraveling trauma, to ankle sprains to hip tendon tendinopathy – challenges that could have easily derailed my mission. And at times I will admit it has… I’ve broken down in sobs of heartache. However, my determination remains unshaken.

As I lace up my running shoes, each stride echoes a parallel story of breaking through physical and emotional barriers.

It’s more than just a marathon.

In this inaugural post, I want to share my motivations behind starting ChasingSub3.blog. It’s a platform to inspire and connect with fellow mothers, trauma survivors, and/or passionate runners who understand that the pursuit of personal goals can be a transformative journey. While I’ve had several blogs in the past they have all ended up rather jumbled without a clear mission. This morning in my runner’s prayer journal* (grab a copy and support not only this blog but also 1% for the Brevard Center for Women) I asked God for clarity. Inspired by our recent message at Biltmore Church to ask for conviction, clarity and courage I am diving into sharing the uncomfortable truth at work in my life. This is my mission field.

As I introduce my first week of training recap this weekend, expect a raw and authentic account of the highs and lows. I’ll delve into the nitty-gritty of my training routine, the strategies I employ to overcome injuries, and the mental fortitude required to chase down that elusive sub 3-hour marathon goal. Each week, I’ll share insights, lessons learned, and the evolving narrative of my pursuit.

Join me on this adventure of breaking personal records and breaking free from the constraints that once held me captive. ChasingSub3.blog is not just a blog; it’s my testimony to the power of perseverance, the strength that comes from facing adversity head-on, and the joy that comes from knowing my future has been sealed in Jesus Christ.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

James 1:2-4
